THE COMPANY

Ballet Neo celebrates the technical beauty of classical ballet, exploring the discipline as a tool for emotional expression. Artistic Director Kate Thomas creates ballets reflecting a deep engagement with intimacy, loneliness, classical narrative themes, and bold responses to experimental music.
Our mission is to implement the classical ballet vocabulary to explore the full range of human experience to ensure ballet remains relevant for contemporary and future audiences. Ballet Neo champions new works on pointe by women and artists who challenge traditional gender norms.
Performances were featured at APAP, the 92nd Street Y, the Ailey Citigroup Theater, the Danny Kaye Theater, the Downtown Dance Festival, the Brooklyn Dance Festival, DRA, and MMAC.
Supported by the CUNY Dance Initiative, our current projects include The Heroinez Journey—a gender-focused research and performance series, Swan Street—a new ballet memoir, and BNYP (Ballet Neo Young Professionals)—a workshop program for emerging dancers.
