Performance

The performance of the completed material in the beautiful Aaron Davis Hall

The Hero's Journey is a quest for an external objective, about obligation, to correct a wrong and bring balance to the world, and in doing so, be transformed. Does gender identity affect the archetypal pattern of the quest for enlightenment and wholeness? How can ballet vocabulary express non-binary or gender inclusive exploration, reinterpreting and expanding the framework to accommodate a broader spectrum of gender identities Ballet Neo's program, The Heroinez Journey investigates the classical ballet lexicon in a nonbinary or gender-inclusive exploration of Joseph Campbell's Hero's Journey that involves reinterpreting and expanding upon Campbell's framework to accommodate a broader spectrum of gender identities and experiences. The goal is to recognize that heroism, personal growth, and transformation are not exclusive to traditional binary gender roles. The Heroinez Journey explores alternate perspectives of the human experience
